Catatan
Problem Statement/Background (GAP): The high rate of in-migration in Muara Enim Regency
rather than out-migration causes high population density which raises various social and economic
problems. Purpose: This study aims to describe the pattern of population migration in Muara Enim
Regency and the local government's efforts in managing migration.. Method: This research uses
descriptive qualitative methods according to Everet S. Lee's Migration theory. Data collection
techniques through interviews (24 informants), observation, and documentation. Result: The results
show that migration in Muara Enim Regency is influenced by various factors, including push
factors, pull factors, intermediate barriers, and personal factors. This migration causes an increase
in the number of labor force and population density, reduced human resources, and the fading of
indigenous culture. The Muara Enim Regency government's efforts in handling migration include
socialization, ball pick-up, coordination, training, and synergy with local companies. Conclusion:
In-migration that is greater than out-migration has an impact on both in-migration and outmigration. The Muara Enim Regency Government has made various efforts to manage the migration
that occurs, it is recommended that the efforts that have been running should continue to be
optimized and there is cooperation with the large center for the development of job training and
companies in Muara Enim Regency.
